Plant Tool Inspector


Location: Wigan
£29,000 - £37,000 per annum
26-Week Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Plant Inspector to join a busy engineering and fabrication operation. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in fabrication, welding, plant, or engineering who possess strong organisational and IT skills.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring tools and equipment are accurately inspected, tracked, and recorded, supporting operational efficiency and enabling costs to be correctly allocated where necessary.

The Role


Working closely with the fabrication and operations teams, you will be responsible for inspecting tools and equipment entering and leaving the fabrication department, recording condition reports, and maintaining accurate asset records.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a combination of practical engineering activities and administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect tools and equipment entering and leaving the fabrication department
  • Record condition, wear, damage, and missing items
  • Maintain accurate inspection and asset records
  • Use Excel, Word, and internal systems to track equipment movements and status
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Support the recovery and recharge of costs back to site operations where appropriate
  • Liaise with fabrication, workshop, and operational teams regarding equipment condition and availability
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping, safety, and compliance

About You

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience within fabrication, welding, engineering, plant, or construction environments
  • Understanding of equipment, tooling, or plant inspection processes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general IT systems

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 17:00
  • Friday: 07:30 - 13:00
  • Total: 41.5 hours per week
